so, i am not one who follows religion. now, i know people are gonna say "your an athist" and shit but not true. btw, if your easily offended then i suggest you dont' read.
I just choose not to go to churches and stuff cuz i have not found a church i liked. all the churches i have sceen are all about money and crap. now, don't get me wrong, i know not all churches are like that but a lot are here in orlando. and quite frankly, why the heck do people think you have to go to church? i don't go to church but i do talk to god when i need to. i believe god exists but i am not mr. fundamental and stuff. to be honest, i don't like it when people try to push religion on you. it would be like me saying that you should listen to a band and if you don't i won't be your friend or some crap. in fact, i remember one day someone asked me what church i went to and i said i don't go to church. they walked away cuz they could not handle that... now, i don't mean to sound like an ass here but it is hard for me to talk to someone that wants to talk religion 24 7. now, it is ok for like 20 minutes or so but after that i can't do anymore...
now, i know a lot of you will judge me right off the bat. and that is great. enjoy yourself. you probably think i am some stuck up guy that hates religion and stuff. but not true. i just think some people take it too far. there is a great skit george carlin did that i thought was vary funny and true all at the same time. you should look it up. i think some of you will find it quite amusing.
ok, i have gone on long enough and off topic and stuff and i have just made an ass out of myself but i had to bring this up because i want to see what people think of this.
thank you.
I agree with you 100%; very well said. people are like that everywhere you go, though, but it's how you deal with it that makes the difference. I don't go to church, and I'm not religious by any means, so if you ever wanna talk, feel free to contact me. I know it can be hard at times, but know that you're not alone.
i know what your saying. I don't go to any kind of place of worship, but i believe in god. I don't feel like i have to belong to a religion to know I believe in god. I can't stand people who push religion on you either. My parents never brought me up to be of any certain religion, they decided that i'd choose it one day on my own, partly because they themselves come from 2 totally different religions. My mom is muslim, my dad is hindu. Theyused to practice their religion more before they got married, but dunno what happened after. They had a hindu wedding, though. When my dad and step mom got married since my step mom is a strong christian, he sort of started whereing the cross and would sometimes go to church and stuff like that, but he'll still celebrate some hindu holidays..lol i know it's interesting. I used to go to mosque when my mom used to be into it, and sometimes with family and friends who went, but then i just never had the opportunity or time, but it was sort of cool. I've been to church, but i much prefer the quieter churches when i do go. My parents have over the years become more spiritual then religious, sort of like me. I believe what i wanna believe and like yeah i believe bits of each of the religions that i've had influence from, I guess. it confuses me a bit too which is another reason why i can't say really that i'm this or i'm that. Maybe if one of my parents actually practiced their religion it would maybe be different. dunno, lol. Sorry for the rambled post, lol, but yeah nothing wrong with not being part of an organized religion, and going to church or mosque or temple or synagogue or wherever, lol, doesn't make you a better person then those who choose not to. ok i'm finished, lol.
Janelle, "More spiritual than religious" well said! Religion's for the birds, and people who are easily brainwashed. I am a Christian, and a minister, but I go around to various churches, and do my est to give religion a black eye where ever I go. Like my pastor says, it's not about religion. It's about a relationship with God.
I agree with Jessie on this one. One's faith should be seen and not heard. Religion to me implies a discipline, but not necessarilly a heartfelt belief in a higher power. I'm a Christian, but you won't see or hear me talking about it much.

Austen i'm with u, I don't follow relition either but I do believe in God. It's realy sad that people that r church goers look at u like your a bad person if u don't go to churtch and stuff. i've had people tell me well if u don't go to church your going to hell. I don't believe that for one secont. It's like saying well i'm a Christian so it's okay for me to judge and say things like that, not cool. i'm not saying all religious people r like that i'm just pointing out some things that have happened to me. So now when people ask me about relition I chews not to talk about it. What ever happen to be tolerant of other's believes. When someone finds out u don't go to church they'll either let he subject go, or try and convince u even after u tell them your not interested. Talking about religion is very contrivercial and will all ways bee. The reason I stopped going to church was because of all the hypocrazy, most of the time u see people go about their life, doing things their supposed bible or the word of God tell them not to do, then come sunday their a good person, they don'tjudge and other stuff. The hypocries ask for forgiveness the sunday then once again go about their lifes doing what they wern't suppose to do, i can't be the only one on here that has seen the hypocritical cycle over and over.
I'm not putting relition down, I has respect and tolance for people's believe all I'm saying is just because your religious and someone else isn't doesn't mean they have to be just like u in hat way. i'm not trying to offend anyone I'm just stating an opinion and observations of what i have incountered. i no some very nice religious people that don't impose their beliefs on others they except people for who they r and that is that
Excelent post Austen.
I just love it when people throw around threats of burning in hell when I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts they don't even know where they'll end up when they're dead.
well said, i feel the same way, when people ask me what religion i am i just say i'm a child of god.
That's it my fren austin. Its like this. Religion is an addiction. Similar to alcahol and dugs. And there is something in the bible that talks about this but I can't remember whare it is offthe top of my head. But if I come across it, I will remember. This is why our church, Bellshoals baptist church the fellowship of encouragement does not displaywe are holyer than you are aditude. We say come just as you are. Hear the spiret call. And be heeled from your youcky lifestyle.
And another thing is. We all fall short but we go to the father and ask him forgiveness. And ask him torestore us and help us to not make the same mistakes again.
I believe in Jesus but I don't go to church or ever read the bible. I pray when I feel the need to and not just to ask for help, I do pray for other reason, Well I don't really pray I more or less talk alot. I am how ever opened to people and their believes. My boyfriend I think could be one of the most God haters out there. He believes that God exsist but he isn't on good terms with him. But back to what I was saying. I believe what I believe and thats good enough for me, What ever it is that you believe then so be it, and if you want to tell me about it I am more then happy to learn about your belief. I do like to know what it is that others believe.
I realy do not like the word religion.

Religion means different believes.
I only believe what the holy bible tells us to do.
Some times people get the true doctrin of God and twist it around.
If you go to a church and the preacher is reading from the holy bible and preach about it, most likely that you are in a right place. Along with that if you feel the pressence of the Lord, you are in the right place. Also if you ask a very hard question and they answer it quickly, you are in the right place. If every one is joyful and loud, and you feel kind of scared cause you have never been to a church like that, you are in the right place. If they fallow the law which is the Holy Bible, you are in the right place. There is alot more but this video will hopefuly help you.
well how funny is this? i excepted christ in my heart a few weeks ago and do not regret it. now, i am not a fundamentalist but god has done amazing things for us. it is real cool. he died for our sins and he forgives us. as long as we ask his forgiveness then we will be ok.
